Piston is a SIG dedicated to the engineering applications of Mechanical, Civil, Chemical and Material Sciences. The SIG functions as a platform for students interested in learning and advancing specific areas of knowledge and technology. The SIG members co-operate, communicate, and organise meets, talks and conferences to discuss the latest technological advancements and applications.
The SIG specializes on a lot of areas like Aerospace Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Chemical and Thermal Engineering, Heat and Renewable Energy Engineering, Robotics, Controls & Mechatronics and Structures & Materials.
Robotrix is the flagship event of our Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) Chapter at NITK, which is set to be conducted online this year. This initiative aims to introduce students to the principles of robot control using Coppeliasim, a leading simulation platform. Over the week, from 14th December to 21st December 2025, participants will engage in expert talks, workshops, and assignments, culminating in a 24-hour hackathon. The event is open to 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students of B.Tech programs across all colleges in India.
